Planet Superflash Bike Light Review

reisuperflashWe try to avoid cycling in the dark but sometimes it can’t be helped.

Unexpectedly long days, bad weather and tunnels all create situations where you’ll need a light on your bike.

Which one to get? Our favourite is the Planet Superflash bike light ($25 from REI or $22.90 from CycloCamping).

It is stunningly bright, clips as easily onto your bags as it does a seatpost and is reasonably priced.

That is a shame! I think the Take-A-Look Mirror (another favourite of ours) is also not available in the UK. Of course, companies like REI (and many others I’m sure) will ship to the UK from the U.S. but you have to be willing to pay higher shipping costs.

Has anyone seen something comparable in the UK?

In some places there are times of year when it is more favourable to ride at night. Australia in the Summer months being a case-in point. Long hot days, and an arid landscape sometimes make it favourable to start a trip at about 7:30pm, cycle until just before midnight, sleep for a couple of hours, and then put in a couple more hours at or just before dawn. The strange pattern of sleep and cycle might take a while to get used to, but it is often preferable to cycling in Australia’s 40-degree Celsius summers!
