Bruno and Hilda

“We’re Hilda and Bruno from the Netherlands. Bruno is actually French but moved to the Netherlands because of … Hilda of course.”

“After having toured in Europe and in few exotic countries like Vietnam, Morocco or Ecuador we decided, a couple of years ago now, to take a one year break from our work and from our comfortable lives and start a longer and demanding cycling trip in Africa.”

“We started the journey in Zambia in July 2011 to first explore southern Africa (Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and Mozambique). After a short Christmas break spent with our families we restarted the journey in Tanzania. After having visited Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda (where we are now) we are about to enter Burundi and Tanzania (for the 2nd time) to finish in Dar Es Salaam in June.”

So far it has been a fantastic experience. We have been writing about it in our website: www.abicyclette.nl

The stories are in Dutch and French but English-speaking people can follow us on Twitter and Facebook, and don’t forget the photographs.”

Liz & Scott

“We have been touring for about 30 years. We were inspired by Liz’s friend Pamela, who cycled solo through Africa in the early 1980s. We now have 4 unpublished journals, including Rome to Madrid, the TransAm (USA) and the North Sea Cycle Route. Still wondering what to do with them!”

Kai & Sheila

Our motto: Actions express priorities. (Mahatma Gandhi)

Our goal: Simplify life so that we can focus on work that is important and meaningful to us.

In a call to live more sustainable lives, we’ve committed ourselves to changing our lifestyle to better reflect our values. We’ve miminized our belongings, paid down debt, quit our jobs and built our own tiny, off-grid, home (180 square feet).

We’re currently learning how to live simply from the seats of our bicycles. We consider our self-supported and open-eneded bicycle tour around the world a pilgrimage, one in which we hope to discover community, hope and people affecting change through every day action.

Christi & Tauru

Christi & Tauru

Christi and Tauru are currently (April 2012) riding in Chile, on their way to an 18-month journey across roughly 16,000 miles and 15 countries on a tandem bike from Argentina to Alaska.

Along the way they’ll stop at schools for the visually impaired to talk about their story in hopes to raise awareness. You see Christi is blind and Tauru is going blind. They hope to inspire others with disabilities that anything can be accomplished.

This isn’t the first time they’ve set out on a long adventure. In 2009 they completed a trip across the US.

“We’re complete novice cyclists who last year decided to cycle the Silk Route on a whim. One year on and we’re still going: headed to Singapore.”
