Kai & Sheila

Our motto: Actions express priorities. (Mahatma Gandhi)

Our goal: Simplify life so that we can focus on work that is important and meaningful to us.

In a call to live more sustainable lives, we’ve committed ourselves to changing our lifestyle to better reflect our values. We’ve miminized our belongings, paid down debt, quit our jobs and built our own tiny, off-grid, home (180 square feet).

We’re currently learning how to live simply from the seats of our bicycles. We consider our self-supported and open-eneded bicycle tour around the world a pilgrimage, one in which we hope to discover community, hope and people affecting change through every day action.

Mark is from France, and he’s cycling around the world. He’s in his 60s and by autumn 2010 had covered 41,000km.

His route has taken him across Canada, through America, into Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Guadeloupe, Martinique, China and now Europe.

He still has Asia and the Pacific to go, on a journey that will take him until 2013 to complete.

Alex & Meredith are chronicling their journey through North America and Central America on their blog, Nowhere Soon. The writing is insightful and humourous at the same time and the podcasts are pretty good too. As you can see from the photo, they’re both resourceful folks, having fashioned their own panniers out of buckets!
