Lamb Shanks — Heavenly

Lamb Shanks

I found some lamb shanks on sale and stocked up and wow, have I ever been enjoying them! The meat is just so tasty, it practically melts in your mouth, and when you make a recipe like Braised Lamb Shanks the gravy is nothing short of amazing. Add in some mashed potatoes and I’m in heaven!

Boxing Day Cycle Ride

War Memorial taken from the BoE
The Gerkin
Rainbow over Canary Wharf

We took a little trip through the City of London on Monday afternoon and stopped at the Swiss Re Tower, better known as the Gerkin, the Bank of England and finally just by our house to take a picture of a rainbow over Canary Wharf. It was a bit chilly but good to get out of the house and get some excercise after a wonderfully filling meal with our friends, Conny and Mel, the day before.

Night Shots by the Thames

canarywharf

Took a little stroll on Christmas Eve and Andrew snapped this picture of Canary Wharf and all the shiny office buildings. The Thames was so quiet, hardly a boat to be seen anywhere.

Our Latest Curling Trip

We just got back from the European Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, southern Germany. Andrew was there as a fifth man (aka spare player, broom-bag carrier and stats man) for the English team. We all had a really good time and the guys finished up fourth in the ‘B’ division, while the girls got a bronze medal. We uploaded all the pictures to the curling club website.

Christmas is Coming

christmastree.jpg

We put up our Christmas tree the other night. Don’t laugh — it’s really small and we’ve affectionately named our little tree Stumpy ;) You can buy real trees in the UK but they’re expensive, frequently dried out and it’s not easy hauling one home on the tube!
