A new children’s book Dog Detectives: An Outback Odyssey might be just the thing.
It’s written by Fin & Zoa: a couple who gave up their jobs and went bicycle touring in 2008, with their dogs Jack & PocoLoco.
Together, this unlikely quartet has pedalled over 17,000km and the adventures they’ve had provided the inspiration for the book. The story goes like this…
Detective Jack and Deputy Poco Loco are dog detectives who cycle around the world solving mysteries and meeting new friends along the way. In An Outback Odyssey they must help recover a stolen didgeridoo from a gang of dirty dingoes. The books hope to entertain, teach children about the wildlife and cultures from different parts of the globe, while inspiring readers with the joys of bicycle travel, and adventure.
The drawings are colourful and interesting.
If you’d like a copy, you can find out where to buy the print edition, or buy a copy for your iPad. The iPad version is especially neat, because it has sounds and interactive features.
The first book was only released in September 2010, but already it’s been a hit and a new one is in the works. Here’s a sneak peak at Dog Detectives: The Great Grizzly North, based on Fin & Zoa’s experiences in Canada.
