We’ve reached France

You can barely see Andrew; just outside Baden BadenAuf wiedersehen Germany, bienvenue la France! We’ve crossed the border at Strasbourg and are now heading for a treat night of tarte flambée and beer, before hitting the road again tomorrow morning. So far the trip has been good, but cold. Over the last few days the temperatures haven’t gone much above 8 degrees and at night it’s been near freezing. It’s okay while we are cycling — well, now that we bought winter gloves — but it makes for chilly tenting, although once we are in our sleeping bags we’re fine. We have had some troubles finding camping spots though, and so have been in hotels every second night. It gets expensive at about €60 a time but we know once we are further south we should have better luck camping and hopefully with youth hostels too, which have tended to be full or closed for renovations. For the next few days we hope to follow canals south, roughly towards Basel, before turning east further into France.
