A bus network covers Tasmania and it’s quite easy to get your bicycle on board.
The two main bus operators are Redline (www.tasredline.com.au) and Tiger (www.tassielink.com.au).
A flat A$10 charge applies to each bicycle you want to take along.
The luggage area under the bus is quite spacious but be prepared to remove the front wheel and turn the handlebars if there are already a lot of bags in the hold.
If the bus is full, you may have to wait for another with more space. Unfortunately, with your bicycle, you go to the back of the queue.
Bus services can be infrequent. If you really need to be somewhere, check schedules beforehand rather than just turning up and hoping a bus is going your way.
