Graeme started cycling to help his mental health after a major breakdown some years ago. In 2009, he took on a big goal: 4,000 miles around the UK coast to support Sustrans – a UK charity that builds the National Cycle Network.

Graeme also wants his ride to raise awareness of the problems mental health brings along with ways to manage them. He did 2 tours to prepare for his big ride.

“The first saw me rounding Lands End on the Devon Cornish cost ride (370 miles) and the second was an epic trip up to Snowdonia and back from my Devon house (728 miles),” he writes in an email.

“My mental health is still unsettled and cycling makes me feel so much better. I love to camp and use a Carry Freedom ‘City’ trailer which I love to bits. The last tour was done on a Dahon Cadenza folding bike with discs, hub gears and 26″ wheels, but I’m one of those who prefers the 20″ wheel versions, theyre so much fun, and comfy for us older riders with encylopedic doctors files!!”
