Getting an Australian Visa

You will need a visa for Australia. Happily, it’s easy and cheap – even free – to get permission for most visits.

The simplest way to get your visa is to apply online at the Australian Immigration Website. The application is a little lengthy but it’s straightforward and processing is very quick – a few hours to a couple days in our experience.

A 3-month visa is free for EU citizens, while a $20 processing fee applies for many other nationalities. If you want to stay longer than three months, you may need to ask for advice at an embassy.

When your visa is emailed to you, you should print it and carry it with you to show immigration officials at the airport. They may also ask for proof of onward travel or sufficient funds to support your journey.
