The freedom and joy at being outside all day soon had us hooked on two-wheeled travel, so we headed to South America the following year and spent 19 months cycling on that beautiful continent. Out there we soon discovered that our favourite rides were on quiet roads in the mountains, well away from traffic and the big cities.”
