American Willie Weir is well known in bike touring circles for the books and articles he writes about his travels by bicycle.
The BikingBis blog recently caught up with Willie at a bike fair in Seattle and asked him two questions: What’s your favorite place for bicycle touring, and where would you ride your bike if you only had a week?
Willie’s answers are surprising and full of enthusiasm for bike touring. See what Willie had to say in the video below. For more information on Willie, check out the full article on Biking Bis and Willie Weir’s website.

When you are allowed to put your tent in somebodys backyard, what about the toilet?

Well, I can’t speak for Willie but anytime we had a similar situation, the person letting us tent in the backyard also offered a shower and use of the toilet. Often we were invited in for dinner too. It’s just that they didn’t have a spare room or they would have given us a bed.

Yes, toilets can be troublesome. There´s always ducking into the bushes, but even this can be a problem if you´re cycling in the summer and it doesn´t get dark until 10 PM. I´ve learned to toughen up my bladder muscles.
